I'm the second owner of my 2016 Scrambler (love it!) and I prefer the solo seat/tail rack combo. The rack is a painted item and as such it seems to get easily dinged up. The paint chips are due to items vibrating or bouncing against the rack.
My solution? I got some large non-slip sticker-sheets -- the kind made for sticking on ladders or steps. After cutting them to fit the rack bars I merely stuck them on. My Scrambler is all black and it looks pretty good. Time will tell whether the non-slip qualities count for anything on the tail rack.
Hope this helps someone. It was much cheaper than trying to re-paint the rack!
