I don't know for sure but my guess is yes. My wife is from the IOM and her family talk about things on the Island in a way that lead me to he's a cop.

Chatted with a few when I was over there - they do have a sense of humour.

Defo a real cop. I saw them like that when I was last there before moving to Oz. Excellent sense of humour. As a cop myself, it pays to display a sense of humour in certain situations. I unwittingly got myself reported a few years back at the Australian F1. It was a warm day (as in friggin hot) and I was doing traffic contrl duty outside the Elephant and Wheelbarrow pub next to the main entrance. Our Sgt was driving around giving us water, Mars bars and fruit etc... He gave me a banana and as I was in the middle of an intersection, I had nowhere to put it.

SO, as we had to remove our firearms prior to the event (we had to appear non confrontational) I put it in my holster. I promptly forgot about it but not before someone took my photo and later gave it to the media. A few days later, the pic was in the Herald Sun. The lads and lasses at work gave me some innocent jabs but Command had a different point of view. Got a "Please explain" from a Superintendant. What an idiot!! My local Inspector took my view and wrote the reply for me. All I got was a "Don't do it again"..

Jeez, some of the brass are idiots sometimes..

I could give you heaps of similar stories about Police sense of humour. If we didn't have one, the job would be terribly difficult. Next time, I'll tell you about eating McDonalds in the morgue

Yeah, the brass can certainly be a party pooper at times.
Being a police officer has to be one of the toughest jobs considering the cross section of humanity you have to deal with.
My helmet is off to the dedicated cops of the world.
