We all know that the left-turning vehicle is one of the greatest fears for motorcyclists.
Well, last evening some nitwit turned left straight into the grill of an oncoming city police car.

I wonder how the "I didn't see you" excuse went BGRIN

Airbags saved all occupants from injury and the offender is facing all kinds of charges relating to his license, vehicle, etc.

Is that poetic justice or what?

How sadly true that is!

On the many kilometers I rode this weekend, I always gave a nod, salute and a thumb up to all the drivers who waited to make their left turn until I/we had passed.
There are a lot of good drivers out there, but there are also some really, really dumb ones.

Knock on wood, I haven't had any close calls with left turners.
I have noticed a few who almost started, and wanted to go, but then stopped in plenty of time.
I usually wag my finger that them in a mild scolding manner - or give them a nod and a salute to say thank you.
It all depends.

A lot of times when I am approaching a possible vehicle turning left in front of me I will light up my passing lamps on the T'bird, or the high beam headlight to increase my visibiliy to the other driver. Never flash it as they could percieve that as a go ahaed signal.
