This morning I had to go out to my daughter's place for a while and used the four-lane highway going to and from.
As I was nearing the city and entering the long curved off-ramp, which is two lanes leading to four lanes in that part of the city, and the speed limit is 50 kph (30 mph), I was passed by a young couple in a compact car going like their tails were on fire.
It always irks me when people drive at excessive speeds in slow kph/mph sections - and this guy was really driving in excess - and in a flash they were out of sight.
I also know that at the end of the ramp is a housing development where there is a blind spot and the cops like to lurk among the trees with a radar gun so I stick to the limit.
As I reached the city street where it becomes very straight I came upon "tail on fire" and a police car sitting at the side of the street.
That made my day. I guess he didn't know about the cops lurking among the trees and bushes :y2:

TUP TUP Justice exists!

Nova Scotia now has a "stunt driving" law which is pretty severe.
If you're clocked at 50+ kph over the posted speed limit that law hits you like a ton of bricks and the fine is $2,410.21 (includes taxes :y2: ), loss of licence for a week and depending on circumstances, they can seize the vehicle.
Just in the past couple of weeks two 18 year-olds (different incidents) were clocked well in excess of 180 kph (115 mph) and were nailed by radar.
I wouldn't want to be paying their insurance rates!!!!

Too funny.
I used to see the same thing in the FLorida Keys on my daily commute. A long bridge past Bahia Honda State Park where the two sections of "road" come together--see pic below-- (actually the road is on the right. The thing to the left is an old bridge for the railroad which didn't survive one of the hurricanes (note the missing section).
Any way its one of the FEW sections where each direction is 2 lanes.....so after 100 miles of single lane folks get crazy when they hit the two lane and BLAST over the bridge.....which has a slight rise that drops down at the southern end, and also curves slightly left, which is RIGHT where the State trooper sits. :y2: And after being nearly blown off the road by the tourist du jour flying past and cussing the "local" (often complete with obscene finger gesture) it was ALWAYS sweet justice to see them on the shoulder being handed a VERY large fine. Due to the fact it is "technically" in a state park....and is a 45 mph zone, and most are doing 65 -70. Yep poetic justice.
