This is a plea to fellow motorcyclists to please ride within your limits, don't ride tired and just stay safe on the road.
In less than a month we have had 2 motorcyclists die within a few hundred metres of each other on a fairly innocuous stretch of road only about a kilometre from my home. The first just before Christmas appears to be a case of way too much speed with a young rider losing control on a straight section and hitting dividing railings. Long serving policeman quoted as saying it was the worst accident he had attended. Yesterday morning as we were preparing for a ride, the sirens could be heard again and this time it was a young father on his way home from night shift when he ran into the back of a stationary truck and trailer at lights. Apparently he did not see the truck.
I am quite distressed by the thought of these accidents being so close to home and with my own son riding too. I am sick of seeing the roadside memorials springing up on the roads I ride. so please when you go for a ride think of your family and stay within your limits.
