My 73 Tiger starts and runs great. I have one problem, it does not idle down as I would expect once the throtle is released. I have a new carb, all new ignition and plugs. I am at a lost. It just does not respond to idle as it once did. What should I look for?

AJ, my 68 was idling too high and was the the throttle rubbing and not backing off completely. A very simple fix. That was what prompted me to ask the question.

First place to check!

Also....

-routing of the cable so it doesn't change the throttle when you turn the wheel lock-to-lock

-if there's intake air leaks, you can spray carb cleaner around there and see if it increases RPM

I'm coming late to the party, but I had a similar problem with my BSA Victor Roadster. I bought a new Amal carb with a chrome slide and the bike runs like new. No more poor idle and stalling at every traffic light.
