The History Channel has this rather new program called Only In America with Larry the Cable guy where he travels around the USA and interacts with locals doing kind of strange stuff.

Well, in a new upcoming episode, he'll be coming to a town very close to where I live (the same place that had the supposedly haunted nursing home).

It's going to be about the "Grandfather of US Fireworks"....Zambelli Fireworks Company. They're the largest and best known fireworks company in the USA. They are the ones that the US Government contracts with to do the 4th of July displays in Washington DC and they normally do the ones at the Statue of Liberty.

So just a heads up to watch and see a bit of my part of the Country.

If you're interested, here's their website: http://www.zambellifireworks.com/

Cool! I will have to make sure I watch that. Thanks for the link. There is a fireworks company in Bunnell, FL where most of the fireworks display in Florida and around the Southeast are made.

I'm looking forward to this episode.

Did you see the one from Houston where he checked the temperature of the bull? I don't care who you are, that there was funny.

I was actually disappointed in the segment about the Zambelli fireworks. It made the people working there look like a bunch of morons. I think they were nervous being filmed and stammered for words. Only the company President came off good at all.

I was glad to see some real folks on that segment instead of polished TV personalities. I can see how they could be upset with their segment but I thought it showed them as the real folks not used to the cameras or a "celebrity."

I live so close to there that I hear and feel the BOOM every time one of those small shacks blows up. It actually happens pretty often too. I also have had some interaction with some of the long time employees there....they are all stone deaf....LOL. I'm not kidding either!

About 6-7 years ago, Zambelli's warehouse blew up. You would think a fireworks warehouse would go bang, bang, bang, etc. But it ALL went up in one GIGANTIC boom. You could see the mushroom cloud for miles. It actually rained down cement blocks onto people's houses and cars doing a lot of damage and broke windows 5 miles away.

During WWII, Korea, and Vietnam they produced bombs as well. Plus, just 10 miles away is a Westinghouse Electric plant where they make the torpedos for our submarines.

There are a lot of people around here that work in at company that makes nitro-glycerine (which is why Zambellis and the torpedo plant are located here in the first place). Many die of lung cancer from breathing the fumes before they realized you should wear a mask.

I think I remember see videos from the warehouse when it blew up. Well it was probably some of the neighbors that filmed it so it wasn't actually the warehouse but the mushroom cloud.

The closest thing I can equate to the explosion of their warehouse would be a B-52 dropping a 3,000 pounder........it literally knocked the wind out of you from the percussion.....and I'm around 2-4 miles away as the bird flies.
