Scrambler
As most of you know, I bought a Scrambler 18 months ago. Here she is the day I bought her.

The silver speedo mounting has always bugged me, so I decided to strip it and paint it black.

The gap between the speedo and the headlight was also annoying as it made the speedo look like it was detached from the bike.
So I decided to change the headlight brackets for some nice shiny alloy ones and raise the headlight up to close the gap between it and the speedo.

Once I had moved the headlight up, the rectifier looked out of place so I relocated it to the frame along with the ignition switch.

The rectifier bracket under the headlight was replaced with this much smaller bracket and logo.

I had always had a dislike for the white plastic brake fluid reservoir, so I replaced that with a nice black anodised alloy one.

Next came the 3 pot caliper upgrade

By this time the modding demons had taken hold and this TEC 2 into 1 arrived in the post.

To anyone considering fitting one of these to a Scrambler the pipe does need modifying to accommodate the rear brake master cylinder. I did this using some panel beating irons and a ball pane hammer! (It does say on the TEC website that it needs modifying for the Scrambler)

I was then in full on tracker style mode, so I made a rear light and numberplate bracket and modified the rear mudguard.
Painted a spare set on bonnie side panels and front mudguard in satin black to match the frame/engine. And fitted the modified Scrambler single seat, minus the rack.

This is what I ended up with

So what do you reckon?

WOW i love tracker style !! she looks awsome you've done a great job on her mate and it looks quality too

nice one Steve
You certainly like to change the look of a bike dont ya.
I luv it.
Tell me,that colour scheme looks familiar,is that the scrambler tank repainted or is that the one off the T100.?

Steve, good work, I like it.
What I don't understand is why start with a Scrambler and start working it towards a street bike look?
I know the crank is setup differently and I guess that changes when and how it responds to the twist grip.

Well spotted Harry! Yes the tank and seat unit was fitted to my T100. I sold the T100 3 weeks ago and put the original orange and white tank back on. At one point I had 4 different coloured tanks! I am cutting down now I only have 2.:y2:

I like the grunt of the 270 motor and do not ride off road at all. I have always fancied a tracker style, but you know me it may look different next year! In fact I actually had some mandrel bends made up for a high level exhaust on both sides of the bike, but never got around to welding and fitting them. But they will appear one day. The exhaust choice for the Scrambler is pretty limited and they are very expensive. An Arrow high pipe is £750, and the Zard pipe is £900! Rumour has it that Arrow are stopping making after market exhausts for the European market as some new EU anti-tampering rules are coming into force that prevents EFI bikes being re-mapped. So the ones that are available are getting very expensive. The TEC system is made in the UK and is stainless steel and cost £200. That was a big factor in going for a low pipe!:y2:

£200 against £750 or £900 is good enough reason for me to fit that system also.

Is the 270' motor that different to ride? I must try one out, I've had plenty of opportunity but didn't bother.

I really like the mods you've done. Think I prefer it over the original by quite a margin.

Are you sure that's the same bike? :y2:

I like the stock Scramblers but ours is an improvement. TUP

So what's next?

Funny you should say that Hemi!

I have made a few minor changes today,
the 'mickey mouse ear' mirrors are gone, and so are the gaitors.
I think it is now finished! (for now :y2:)
