That's one stripper a father could be proud of! Sorry, I really couldn't resist. :y72:

I think it's impressive but I don't support that kind of stuff. Kids with rifles??? Columbine? It kinda makes me feel ill to watch a little girl spend her time messing with a lethal weapon. Sorry, being a mushy mom here.

I think it's very sad that a girl (or any child) should be made to strip weapons

I suppose that would depend on the motivation behind it

Gromit and Farside, firearms are not evil anymore than motorcycles are evil. Firearms, motorcycles, automobiles, knives, and fertilizer can be used by evil people for evil purposes. There is a liberal mindset that has ingrained the false notion that guns are evil.

Gromit, there are millions of kids in the US who shoot; they are not psychopaths like the Columbine perpetrators. Just recently, a 15 year old girl possibly saved her life and certainly saved herself from being raped when two illegals invaded her home. She grabbed her dad's shot gun and locked herself in her bedroom. When the one perp broke through the door, he deservedly met his demise. The other was critically wounded, ran out of the house and bled to death in the street. Both had criminal records. Oh, I forgot to mention, she is a champion trap shooter.

Farside, I doubt very seriously that this young lady was "made" to strip weapons. She obviously enjoys what she is doing. She is quite a marksman on the range, too, if you looked at the other two links. Just as a child might enjoy working on a street rod or a motorcycle with his/her dad, theis youg lady is doing something with her dad. Far better than hanging out at the mall with the wrong crowd and learning how to shop lift.

I taught all four of my kids to shoot beginning when each was six or seven years old. Before they ever pulled a trigger, they learned how to handle the firearms, strip them clean them and reassemble them. I supervised all aspects including the shooting and drilled safety, safety, safety into them. Three of the four pursued a love of recreational shooting. I have since had the pleasure of teaching my oldest grandchildren to shoot. None have used a firearm for evil purposes.

I think it is great to see a young lady taught to handle a firearm safely and to shoot.

Carl this has been debated many times on this forum and there are no "winners" in this argument, I think it is a simple case "each one to his (her) own". I don't judge a person because they believe in a certain way or thing that is their right. I however also have my right to dislike weapons intensely; to me they will always be nothing else but an instrument of death or injury or some other misery. Sure a boy or girl can work with their dad on a bike or some other project, sure some can argue that a bike can be a source of death or misery etc. The bike nonetheless was not DESIGNED to kill - weapons are, that is their sole purpose for existing. I can't understand people who can sit and design these things and consider all the options using various types of ammunition that will cause maximum damage to the human body. I have been at the business (receiving) end of a gun a number of times but have never had the inclination to go and get one, I believe it's better to be a living "coward" (stick your hands up) than dead hero. Whoever comes into a situation with intent is ready the other party (in this case myself) has to then find the gun release the safety take aim and then fire before the "perp" who was ready fire before this whole procedure started.

In our household we don't allow weapons, even toy ones. If it looks too realistic it ‘s in the bin. That is our belief which is contrary to yours. That however doesn't make us better people than you or vice versa. :y18:

Farside, I fully accept and respect your point of view. I most certainly do not agree with it; but I totally accept it. We will never agree on that issue; but I can have a cold one one with you anytime. In my humble opinion, at least in this country, the only thing that keeps us being citizens instead of subjects is the private ownership of firearms guaranteed by our Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights. The framers of the Constitution obviously felt the same way.

I, too, have been on the wrong side of firearms and I have used them for lethal purposes. I most certainly did not enjoy it; but it beat getting killed or seeing my buddies get killed. I would not hesitate to use a firearm again for lethal purposes to protect my life or the lives of my family. I hope I never ever have to. I can tell you for a fact that violent crime dropped in states where the citizens have a right to carry. The bad guys look for soft targets. There is a whole art to self defense much of which does not involve carrying or using a firearm. It is a matter of being alert, knowing your surroundings and body language. The bad guys definitely look at body language.
