Friday morning I'm leaving to fly to Australia for a couple of weeks. I've never been there so it will be an all new adventure for me as I've always wanted to visit Australia and New Zealand.
Unfortunately, there are no motorcycles involved as I'm travelling with my daughter and her husband and will be doing and seeing what they will be doing and seeing.
It's their trip and I'm just tagging along. That's OK, because our tastes and interests are very similar.
They had been planning this trip since last summer, but there was no way my wife and I could go due to my wife's health, nor could I leave her so I put it out of my mind.
As most of you know my wife passed away last October which opened the window for me to go.
I take no joy in that as I would give anything to have her back.
But life has to go on and the young folks urged me to come with them for this once-in-a-lifetime adventure. My wife would also want me to get on with it and not pass up on opportunities like this.
I hear it's been pretty hot down there so I hope me and my Eskimo blood can cope with the heat :y2:
On the way home we're going to stop in Hong Kong for a couple of days just to see the place.
We might as well as this will probably be the only and only time we'll be doing this.
See you later and be good while I'm gone :y15:

A safe and happy trip to you, and the family, Rocky. My younger daughter spent some time down there in her college years, taking courses at Flinder's, in Adelaide. She loved the country and the people; I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time.

Think of the "village idiot" and all the rest of us, up here in the cold, cold northeast, while you're there: Jim

Good one Rocky
I know you are going to enjoy yourself down here.
Grab yourself a notebook or I Pad and you can keep in touch as you travel.
IF you come through NZ, I will be expecting a call so we can meet up for a cofee and chat.(I'll send contact details via pm)
Oh,and dont forget your camera and a spare sd card, we will all be expecting pics.
BTW, you are picking the best time of year as well (for NZ anyaw) Feb is the most settled time of the year.

Rocky, I think this is great opportunity and I surely glad you are going - even though I'm :y154:. Have a great time and drop in when you can. We will miss you.

Hey Rocky! enjoy yer trip. maybe you can meet some of the guys when your down under! see ya when you get back---------John :y6:

WHAT CarlS AND banzai said! pack real light an only bring some undies, tooth brush and a nice short sleeve shirt and pants for an evening out. Whilst here you can buy and wear t shirts and shorts purchased from the local gift/tourist shops. Word of warning WATCH those KIWIS, their all a bit suss!!!

Thanks everyone, and now I have a confession to make making me look like a complete twit!!!
I was not involved in the planning of this trip as I'm just tagging along as a third party.
Somewhere along the line I got it into my head that we were leaving on Friday, 17 January.
It's actually Sunday, 19 January.
I called my daughter yesterday and told her I was packed and ready to go and that's when I found out I was two days early CRY
She had a good laugh, but also confessed that many weeks ago she also thought it was 17 January and that's probably why that date was stuck in my head.
Oh well, it's no big deal, I always like to be early for appointments :y15:
I'm really looking forward to this trip and I have my camera packed with a large memory card inserted, spare card, battery and charger - along with the adapter for Australian electrical outlets.
So, in the meantime I'll still be hanging out here for a couple of more days :y2:

Glad that your not going till Sunday as I would have missed the opportunity to wish you a safe trip and I hope that you have a fantastic time down under, the Ozzie's are a great bunch of people, even to POM'S like me. And no doubt you'll get a warm welcome from the Kiwi's as well. Enjoy every minute of it. Can't wait for the photo's. Take care

Hey mate, where are you going to poke your head in Australia. I am in Canberra and if you guys come this way I would like to say hi, only if possible don't want to influence any of your plans.
It is very hot in most places in OZ, and quite dry.
