By the way......it seems to me that someone screwed-up when they built that deck. Logic tells me that when you build such a thing, it should be at least LEVEL and not sloping towards the tracks.
At our subway stations here in Pittsburgh, there is a gentle upwardly sloping strip right near the end nearest the tracks. It prevents things rolling slowly enough to be stopped from going over the edge. It's not foolproof, but it is a helpful measure.

You didn't consider we are in the southern hemisphere.
We drive on the left side of the road.
Water runs down the plug hole the other way.
And our stations fall to the tracks.
It's the law of nature.
