Here are two links about oil filters worth viewing. I had posted the cross reference chart in the old forum.
The author of these charts is an engineer, but not a lubrication specialist. He does NOT recommend using motorcycle oil filters; he recommends using automotive oil filters. However - and I can speak only for the Bonneville - the three automobile filters that I tried did not work; they would not seal properly. Automobile filters are convex at the top and motorcycle filters are nearly flat. The oil filter housing on the Bonneville is shallow and the filter hits the housing and does not allow the filter to be tightened sufficiently to seal. I do not know if this applies to other Triumphs.
