Had my status changed from practicing active architect to retired. So now my official status is Emeritus Architect. I can do small projects if needed. I could reactive if needed, but I don’t see that as likely. It would require spending fund on continuing education courses which adds up to funds I don’t care to spend anymore. Especially when there’s no income to speak of from being an architect. So now I’m a motorcycle riding cat herder!

LoL!

Welcome to the gainfully unemployed crowd. When I retired from the nuclear industry it was a bit of 'what do I do now?' Trust me, you'll figure it out. Now you can work on building that motorcycle herd to fill the garage space occupied by non binary transport vehicles.

Sounds like a plan! I want to build some cabinets for my garage shop too. I’ve actually been retired effectively for a few years after my injury and other medical issues, but I’m turning 65 this month and all the official things from government to state have to be in order. So in a way very happy to be at this stage, even though a few years ago I had envisioned working a bit longer I’m now just content to move forward to another chapter.

There’s a possibility I can remain in my professional association without having to pay dues. Local chapter representative is sending me forms Monday. The nice part in that is I could go participate in chapter events and see old colleagues. The way it works is three year waivers, so at 68 I would apply for another waiver and at 70 the chapter would change my status to match the state’s emeritus status. Don’t ask me why the state and the professional association has a different age requirement for emeritus. As long as I don’t need to pay dues, I’ll go for it. Dues for active members approaches a $1k a year. Fixed income and no revenue it wouldn’t make sense. We’ll see.

Taking a nap day, went to get some vaccination boosters yesterday. Predictably sore arm and feeling run down. With my other ailments decided to get it done before jury duty later this month. Hope I don’t get picked. LoL.
