I have just got home after spending the last 2 days in hospital. I was at work on tuesday when I had a pain and sensation of pins and needles up the back of my neck, followed by loss of hearing and the room spinning around.
This lasted about 2 or 3 mins and then went back to normal. That evening I started with double vision. I went to my doctor, who referred me to the specialist at Lancaster Hospital where I underwent a series of tests. ECG, Angiogram. CAT scan, MRI scan and various blood tests. I was admitted to hospital having suffered a suspected stroke!
I am now home and taking Aspirin, Simvastatins, and Dipyridamole.
I am having another scan on the arteries in my neck as they suspect the stroke was caused by a blockage.
So I have 2 bonnies in the garage raring to go and now I am not allowed to drive/ride for a month!
It's been a scary couple of days, but I am still breathing!

Sounds like you had just a very minor episode that may well be a blessing in disguise. Instead of something major, now they know what to look for to prevent a big one. Glass half-full type of thing.

The bikes can wait...we're all more concerned for YOU!

Thanks guys, I am looking on this as a lucky escape!
My symptoms have all cleared now, and the consultant thinks it was caused by either a blood clot or a restriction in my artery, the scan next week will determine whether I need a stent fitting or continue on the drugs.
So, I am just taking it easy at the minute.
There is one thing for certain, I will have 2 of the most polished bonnies around by the time the month is up!

Sorry I am late on this Gumpt, sorry about you being grounded for a month but as stated previously look on it as a blessing in disguise. No amount of polishing will make that matt green shiny but parrofin /Kerosene does. Don,t ask me how i know !!!!

Carl and I can fly over and exercise the bikes....

In a heartbeat! I like that idea.

Gump, I am sure sorry to hear this; but very happy it was not worse. I think AJ is right; this could be a big blessing in disguise. Keep polishing those bikes. The month will pass quickly. Get well, my friend and keep us updated.

Thanks again for the kind words guys, it is appreciated!
Just a bit of an update, MRI scan was clear with no permanent damage to the brain.
Blood tests and ECG all fine.
Had the Doppler scan today and the good news is, I have no restrictions in my arteries, so the mini-stroke was almost certainly caused by a small blood clot, which can be managed by medication.
However, when I had the scan today the doctor found that my thyroid gland was covered in cysts!
More bloody tests!
Since I had the mini-stroke, my wife has binned anything with 'fat' or 'salt' in the label!(I will soon be anorexic!)
She's got me eating something that resembles shredded cardboard for breakfast! (I know, she has my best interest at heart).
Geoff, we need to know about parrafin on olive drab paint, it sounds like an Army story to be told!

Steve, that is, indeed, very good news. So are you cleared to ride and drive now?. Sorry to hear about the thyroid cysts; I hope that can be corrected easily.

I had an MRI of the brain once and they didn't find a thing! :y114:

Enjoy that shredded cardboard. You will find that "light or "lite" means less taste and "fat free" means no taste! :ya2:
