My last motorcycle was an '81 Honda, and when I unscrewed the fuel cap on it, I could just see all the way to the bottom of the tank. I had seen a diagram in the Bonneville owners manual that lead me to believe it would be very similar on new bikes.
well, I went to give Bonnie a drink for the first time today, and realized this was overly simplistic. When I took off my gas cap, all I could see was a chute that curved off and out of view. I have no idea how to tell when the fuel level is at the bottom of filler neck.
And to make matters worse, the last time I filled up a motorcycle, the pump nozzle was easy enough to see around to eyeball the fuel level.
But now all the pumps have that giant rubber flange on the end. If there was anything to see in the tank, it would be quite a trick to see it around that.
So here is my noob question: how do you tell when Bonnie has had enough to drink at the fuel station?
