Our Shell station here in Meridian, Ms is now offering non ethanol gas. After using its premium 93 octane for the last few months in my 2004 Bonneville, I have noticed that my gas mileage per tank has increased 5 miles to the gallon and when I start up there is less engine missing and sputtering 'till the engine warms up. I have read that I will notice less corrrosion and damage to rubber and plastic parts of the bike as well. Will see if this is true. I have had to replace serveral of the rubber caps with the Amal carbs over the last 8 years. Wondering if anyone else has noticed a difference in using "pure petrol?"

Well......I have a couple stations around me that sell non ethanol fuel along with the 10% ethanol stuff. I run a tank of the "good stuff" through both the Subaru and the Bike about once a month and I certainly see a difference. However at the premium price they charge for the "real" fuel, I can't do it all the time. As far as damage to engines. I own a Honda lawn mower that specifically in LARGE print on the fuel cap AND the owners manual that using anything other than regular fuel will......... I'm not kidding........
A. void the warranty and B. cause serious internal damage to the engine:y26: If it will KILL a Honda motor, WTF is in that ethanol crap?!?!?!?!?!?

According to our ever helpfool (I mean helpful) U.S. Govt. the added ethanol is HELPING to keep the cost of fuel LOWER......really.......oy don't get me sta-ted (in my best Billie Crystal accent)

i use the 98 octane stuff in the tiger it picks up better and revs cleaner but it does spit back on shut off , but i put this down to the viper can .
it is dearer but i find i get 30 - 40 miles to the full tank more ! so in the bike its working out about the same price .

98 octane- wow! Just wondering about the brand- I've never seen that high. And on that line of thought, do the octane additives do about the same with less cost per tank than buying premium?

well our low octain is 95 ive noticed that in US you have about 5-6 differant ones ,we just have the 2-3 ...95, 97, and now 98 !
But is that the actual octane number or the RON number?
For example, the Triumph handbook for my T100 calls for 95 RON fuel.
That's the middle grade of 87 octane over here.
We only have three octane grades in my area; regular unleaded 83; supreme unleaded 87, and super supreme unleaded 92.
