Hi guys
My beloved Triumph let me down.
It was running like a dream, parked it in my garage as usual, 3 days later geared up, keys in ignition, all the usual lights came on, pulled in the clutch lever in, pressed the start button ☹️ no start .The engine turned over slowly once acting like a flat batt was the problem .Gave it a moment tried again same thing happened .
the Battery was bought ,charged ,and fitted on the 29/12/20 it will be 10 months old on the 29 of October this year its always started the bike no probs. So left the bike on its usual Oxford Oximiser battery management system until I return home this Sunday .The Bike has always been serviced and smothered in attention coz its me baby . When I return home on Sunday I will take note of the voltage before doing anything else .When I attempted to start the bike before it let me down I noticed the voltage was a bit low but tried it anyway it sat at 12.1 volts it dropped down to 10.4 volts under load which is not going to start the bike the voltage is visible due to having a Din to USB plug in duel outlet and voltage indicator adaptor, thats sits in the front dc outlet that charges my phone when I ride. On the go it reads a steady 14.2 volts so charging is not a issue. A sudden failure of a well maintained battery is a puzzle assuming its is the battery . Would like your guys thoughts about dianosis and your exsperiance if any on this issue.

When buying a battery, there is always the unknown: when was it manufactured and how long did it sit in the warehouse(s) until you bought it. It's not common, as Vector said, particularly at "discount" shops.

After coming back to this, I think I meant to say "but more likely at 'discount' shops where you might not be getting the deal you really thought you were getting."
Same goes with online purchases. One doesn’t know when an item was manufactured and how long it has sat in storage.

To the OP, hopefully a new battery will fix your issue. If not there are other electrical components that may be wearing out. Good luck, let us know what you do with the battery and if it works.

Thanks for the reply. The Battery was bought from my local bike shop called NV motorcycles here in Morrinsville New Zealand, the shop has a good reputation Ive shopped there for the last 10 years. it cost $179:00 NZ on 29/12/20.
This Pic was taken on Monday 11/10/21 batt was acting fine up to that point .This pic is overlooking the Hobbiton movie set .Some really nice roads around that area its about 30mins ride from Morrinsville where I live , just have to watch out for those little guys with big hairy feet running around . I will keep you posted on what I find .Just for reference -The bike has a Heated grips, Strobing brake light electronic device ,and a Innovv K2 dash cam kit fitted all been on my bike for about a year with no issues Thanks again .

You might want to check the condition of the other components like the regulator rectifier.
Good idea .Voltage seems steady according to the digital display when riding like I said its 14.1. volts on the move,
never seen a spike or fall indicated but, would not hurt to do a test on the Reg/rec thanks .

Highest Ive seen is 14.2 volts while riding.

Hi Guys ,
just wanted to update you on the post No start on my Triumph 1200.
did a bit of investagating into the problem with my 1200 that let me down .
when I returned home 4 days later the battery was charged and was showing 14.1 volts DC while sat on the battery management system .turned off the system unplugged the system and the voltage dropped to 13.9 volts DC and stayed like that for an hour .I decided to start the bike so turned on the ignition ,all normal ,pulled in the clutch lever , all normal, pressed the start button and the lights dimmed the engine did a slight crank . turn the ignition on and off again tried it again and it burst into life did that a few times and come to the conclusion that there was a high resistance somewhere on the starter circuit . Decided try and clean the starter button itself by squirting a circuit board cleaner inside the switch cluster did that while the bike was on the main stand with the handle bars turned fully to the right then fully to the left . did it over a few hours both sides .Since then it seems fine. have started and ridden the bike over the last week most days with no issues plus it starts with the lightest of presses on the starter button , will keep watching for a issues and keep all updated .I wash the bike after most rides this time of year and I also use a bike dryer will cover the switch cluster from no on while washing and using the bike dryer just incase its blowing water inside the switches possibly causing a issue.

On top of that, are you affected much by salt air from the sea at your home?
