Well as of of October last year you now longer need a tax disc in the uk it's all done on line , so I have decided that I will put some genuine 1955 and 1956 tax disc's on my bike and car so here is a pic of them ..I think there quite cool !

We never had the tax disc over here, but some owners buy reproductions and fit them to their British bikes for a more "British" look.
We had a mandatory annual vehicle inspection and some put the sticker inside the disc.
Now that vintage bikes have been granted antique status, and not considered daily transportation, we are free from the annual inspection, but the discs remain just for the look.

Did they have to be located at a special place on the bike? We don't have anything like that here, just a inspection sticker and a tag.
On a bike you had to have them mounted on the kerb side ( so a passing policeman could see it without having to step on the road ) in a clear tax disc holder bolted to the bike some where .
A car had to have it on display in the bottom passenger side windscreen ...again so it could be seen from Cerberus side when the car was parked .
