As some of you may recall I had planned to go over to Belgium to visit Joao last year after I got home from my trip to South America. Well, we all know what happened to those well made plans :ya2:
Now that I'm healthy again I had planned to go over this August, but now Joao's health isn't good. He's still riding, but not up to touring as we had planned.
He very generously encouraged me to come over anyway and stay at his house and use his bike, but that would be unfair and I would feel as if I was taking advantage of him.
As a result I've cancelled any travel plans for this year. There is always next year, but if things don't work out I'm going to book a tour of the Canadian Rocky Mountains for next summer. This is a tour I've had on my mind for years. My best friend and riding buddy also wants to go so we should have a good time.
As I approach age 72 I just hope that I still have plenty of "next years" left :ya2:

I was very sorry to learn of Joao's health problems; I am glad he is still riding. I know you were looking forward to the trip and it's too bad it has to be postponed again.

Rocky the way you are going I think you have plenty of many more years to come :y18: Pity about your trip to Belgium as I know you were really looking forward to this one as well. I am also sorry to hear that Joao health has taken a bit of a tumble but glad that he is still able to get some riding in :y18:

Thanks Dave :y18:
Yesterday I was shovelling gravel into a wheelbarrow and filling in holes and low spots in the short road into my cottage. I worked hard and worked up a sweat. I pushed it a bit hard and my shoulder and hand performed like there was never an injury.
It feels wonderful to be fit and strong again :y115:
Not wishing to brag on myself, but I'm uncommonly strong and healthy for a man of my age and I'm loving it! Slowing down or acting my age is not me :ya2:
Yes, I'm disappointed, but in some ways not travelling this year may be a blessing. There are plenty of "chores" around my house and cottage that I couldn't do last summer and still need to be done. Maybe it's just as well that I take this year off and catch up.
Not nearly as much fun though :ya2:
I'll be doing a lot of riding and overnight rides around my part of the world so it's not as if I'm being too deprived. The Maritime provinces are a bikers dream and we have great places to ride.
Nova Scotia has a craggy coastline and wonderful twisty roads to enjoy. It won't be all work and no play.
