Took these pics this morning.
My neighbour, Max, has spent the last 12 months re-building this 1969 MG. I think he's done a great job!

If you compare Max's British version of the MGB and my American version, you'll notice that the American model had 3 windscreen wipers as opposed to 2 on the Brit model.

I was once told it was because of the side the steering wheel was on. But that doesn't really seem to add-up at all.

It's a mystery???

AJ, I sure like the Lotus.

Unfortunately, that one had the Renault engine and not the larger Lotus Dual-Webber engine.

It did handle like it was on rails though.

But the fiberglass was SO thin on that car that you can even see in the photos that the front and rear hatches "twisted" when they were propped open. If it sat in the sun too long, they'd twist even more.

It was a "black badged" model. Colin Chapman would order all production vehicles to carry black badges after the death of one of his drivers. In this case it was in honor of Jim Clark.

IMHO, the B was a more refined and civilized car than the A, although the A had the better looks.

I think the creme of the crop was the MGC-GT......a hardtop/hatchback MGB with the Rover small block 8 cylinder engine. They had a bump in the bonnet to fit the large engine.

Slight correction on the MGC. It had an inline 6 cyl engine, the bulge across the front of the bonnet was to clear the radiator which had to be moved foward due to the extra length of the engine-there was also a blister to clear the front carb.
(The Rover V8 version was simply called an MGB V8 and used a standard bonnet.)
I was lucky enough to drive one in the classic rally series some years back and apart from hopeless brakes it was a wonderful car to drive.

You're right...and I was thinking that I might be getting confused in my old age when I posted it
