Just picked up a 1600cc T-Bird a couple weeks ago, because after our local dealer (Cascade MotoClassics) had a .99% interest rate and Triumph's $1000 promotion for '13 Birds. Probably in part because the 1700s are available stock next year for at least some of the Birds. But 1600 seems enough for me -- I've been riding 25 years and never had something this big! So comfy! So torquey! I've owned the old '90's T-Bird and the newer Bonnie, but this is my first Big Cruiser. I'm 40, I was ready for it. Plus, on smaller, faster bikes, I tend to ride...in ways that might get me a ticket. Something about the way the Bird rides, I'm just content to hang out. War's song "Low Rider" is on a loop in my head when I ride her.

With the grand, I ordered the short TORs and the 2-piece touring seat. At some point I'll have to figure out luggage -- I've always just thrown cheap fabric saddlebags on my bike, but maybe I should get something fancy / water resistant / locking to make it more practical for work trips, etc.

No pictures of me on the bike yet, but here's my lovely wife having a sit on her. That's the wife's V7 next to her. image.jpg

Yesterday I installed the short TORS and the TuneECU map 20359 ("Use with aftermarket silencers without secondary air injection, all markets except Japan."). Holy Moly! Sounds SO nice, and not obnoxious! Just perfect. Rode around for about 50 miles today, running errands and one nice ride along the Columbia River.

I also installed the 2-piece touring seat, but promptly took it off -- moved me too far forward (I'm ~6'). I'd bought the 2-piece because I'd read the 1-piece touring was even worse for putting you farther forward. It's no biggie, I really like the stock seat and the touring seats will be nice for the passenger if I ever go for a long ride 2-up. Plus, it was all that free $1000 in accessories from the Triumph promotion! I'm pretty stoked with how the bike is now. The only possible addition I see would be Hardstreet Slimline bags, but I'm not in a rush -- I've got cheapo fabric panniers that will work in a pinch, and I sure like the look of the bike without bags. I've never been so happy with a bike so stock, but man, she just fits and is gorgeous.

I was wrong, the touring seat I got (2-piece) is way more comfortable than the stock seat. Slimline Hardbags are next on my list, and a sissy bar (for wife and daughters) -- have to do those together, I think, because the Easybracket is different if you have a sissy bar or not. Here's a photo from a nice wintry ride last week -- thanks heated gear! About 37*f.image.jpg
