Good evening from Arkansas. I just discovered this group tonight while scrolling down the Triumph list of web sites.
Not a new Triumph owner. I got my current bike back in 2010. A cherry 2008 Triumph Thruxton carb model. My first ride was a 1960 Triumph T100---500 cc twin back in 1960. Second Triumph was a 1968 T120 Bonneville I bought after I got back from Army. Kept that for about five years then a long procession of bikes--Harley Sportster, Honda 750 which began my long distance touring around the US-Canada then onto an XS1100 , followed by a BMW R100RT, R100S, R100RS, Ducati 750 GT, and a R1150RS. Then the Thruxton found a home. I have covered all the states--6 or more Canadian provinces..Baja California..and most of Western Europe including the old Yugoslavia before the SHTF. Lots of miles--good times and memories to take me past my last final ride.
Well, I guess ya'all now know my history..at least the headlines...Hoping to enjoy some interesting discussions as time marches on.

Hello and welcome to TT BBEER
You have a very impressive riding history TUPTUP
Thank you Rocky.
And still planning on a lot more..
I forgot to mention in my introduction---I am also a Norton rider---owner...since around 1982 or so. Put a bunch of miles on several I have. I was interested in mayby getting a new one but have to get rid of a few bikes in the shop first---and sell to finance that. Or,...maybe a new 1200 Thrux.

Great riding up there in Canada. Did a bunch years back when no passports were needed. The San Juan Island hopping out to Victoria Island then the ferry trip to Prince Rupert and the Highway along the river to Prince George. Then up to the end of the road where the Alaskan highway begins.
Did the back side of Banff Ntl Park..to Lake Louise--...so much beautiful country. Another trip started up in British Columbia and rode Highway 1 all the way to Nova Scotia--Quebec City---down into Maine and To Boston. Then back to So Calif where I was living at the time. That was a 10,000 + mile 4 week trip.

Wow, that's a very impressive coast-to-coast ride TUP TUP
I've ridden in B.C.; Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise and all those popular parks and areas, but I cheated and flew out there and picked up a bike to ride.
Ah yes, the days before passports and intense airport screening. Those were the days weren't they.

Yes indeed they were..so easy going just about everywhere---the motorcycle was the icebreaker in a lot of places--especially Europe.....some people call that progress.

Wow sounds like you have found a home at TT. Can’t wait to hear some stories .Yes the new Thruxton is wonderful,I have a Tiger 800 for longer hauls. Have done 400 mile days on the R , but imagine the standard Bonneville would be lots comfortable for longer days. A standard Bonnie with Thruxton engine and suspenders would be neat. Welcome aboard... Brooke

JoDArk, WELCOME to TT from Mississippi, i have been to your state many times to ride hwy. 7, and everything around Harrison, good riding up there!!!!!!!!

Oh yes,,,all around Harrison and that area in NW Arkansas. Nice roads...and lots to see. Eureka Springs is a good hub for several days of great loop rides.
I've ridden the Natchez Trace from Natchez to Nashville several times--both directions. Maybe someday on the Thruxton..

One of the modifications I've done on the 08 thrux is to replace the stock with VFR clip-ons. They are about 1-1/2 " higher and a little less bend---eases up the old back a bit. These sit on top of longer F600 fork legs which have adjustable preload and damping..so combined the bars are almost 2-1/2-3 inches higher and with less bend.

My buddy has a VFR 800 white, sweet ride. When he takes the vfr I take The Thruxton. When he takes his Strom I take the Tiger. He is looking at higher clip ons for his VFR ,available but not cheap. So his old clips will fit my Thruxton, very interesting! Brooke

Well..that depends. My forktubes are F600..41mm which are approx 30 mm longer than the stock Thrux. They are installed 30 mm proud of the top fork triple tree and the VFR clipons are mounted here..
I guess if room allows they could be mounted in the stock location below the top tree but not that much radical of a change..
