Phil here hi to all.
Very much looking forward to hearing everyone’s experience’s with there Triumph Motorcycle’s. I recently purchased a 2015 Triumph Bonneville America with 27500km on the clock. I don’t take delivery of the bike until Mon (28/09) I had a ride on one a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it, started looking at second hand ones for sale (always dangerous) and here I am. I’m devouring YouTube videos at a ferocious rate at the moment to improve my knowledge of these awesome motorcycles.
I began riding in 1978 when I was a young man of 18. Dove in at the deep end and purchased a Kawasaki Z1R as my first bike. Still here to tell the tale. I sold that and purchased a Honda CBX in 1979, (hey come back guy’s where are you all going... )
I sold that in 1980 and for a few years rode around (mainly commuting) on a Honda 250 super hawk. In the mid 90’s I purchased a Kawasaki GPX600r which is still in my garage, although not running, not a lot needs doing to it but it is a retirement project at this stage.
I purchased a Honda VFR800f in July of 2016 after nearly ten years of not riding ( don’t ask because I don’t know the answer) and was blown away by it, no plans on selling it at this stage.
My brother in law bought a 1979 Triumph Bonneville Special about the same time as I bought the CBX and he still has it to this day. He bought another bike recently (his first in 40 years) the America I was lucky enough to ride a couple of months ago. So he is very happy that he has finally converted me. I am originally from Skipton Yorkshire in the UK having emigrated here in 1970.
I will post a couple of photos once I take delivery of the bike. Look forward to participating in the forum.

Received the America on Monday, spent a couple of days giving it a thorough cleaning. Was pretty good to start with, but a good wash and polish helped. Took the mufflers off and polished them up, gave the headers some work. Cleaned up the engine and used some SC1 on it. Still have to polish the wheels, clean the fins up, and do some other small detailing jobs to get it how I want it. The chain looks to have a couple of frozen links so will give it a good clean and lube and check again. Overall very happy with it, have only done 100km so far ( I am away on my wedding anniversary weekend, didn’t push my luck) will get some miles up in the next couple of weeks.

Yes, the colours are cinder red and morello red. Must admit this is my favourite colours scheme for the America. I also like the Pearl White and blue. Have also seen a green colour scheme not sure if that is original though.

I wasn’t sure if I really liked the red rim tape that the bike was fitted with. Decided to remove it and clean up the wheel. I definitely prefer it without.

Very sharp looking. Think the rim stripes must have been done by the previous owner(s) as I don't recall seeing one with it before.
Great job on the clean and polish.
