Tis the season fir hurry canes and Gordon and Florence have made their presence known.
Gordon is giving the southern U.S. a hard time right now, but will pass up through the middle of the continent and not likely bother us much here in the east. However, it could swing east and bring us some rain later in the week. It won't be much of a storm by then - says I with crossed fingers BGRIN.
Florence is still well out in the Atlantic and is expected to edge north in our general direction, but will probably move east away from us.
All we can do is wait and see.

Our friends in the southern coastal U.S. now have reason to be concerned about Florence as it appears they're going to take a direct hit from this very fierce storm.
I'm a bit concerned too as that means we will probably get hit with the tail end of it.
It's all a waiting game for now, but there is also Isaac and Helene who have formed off the African coast.
Very hard times could be coming for many of us.

It's not looking good for our USA friends and we can only hope that the storm becomes downgraded as it moves over land and moves this way.
We can handle the rain and the wind if it's only tropical storm strength.

was a year ago I was cleaning debris and had no power at this time from Irma-- we JUST got our roof repaired end of July and the windows and front wall damage mended in August--- (gotta love insurance companies) sure seems like the hurricanes are becoming more numerous and MORE POWERFUL by the year....

Thoughts nad Prayers to all those in the current path -- HEED the WARNINGS --- they are NO joke-- ive been through more of them than I can remember --- and they all sucked.

Im very concerned for my son and his wife who is 7 months pregnant with there first as they are in Maryland but are only just outside the evacuation zone , so i have everything crossed at the minute and i hope everyone stays safe and sound .

The devastation going on in the Carolina's is almost beyond belief!

The long range projection for our area is that Florence may pass over us next Wednesday into Thursday, but won't be much more than an ordinary storm with rain and only modest winds at best.
We'll just have to wait and see, but I'm not worried now.

In my original post I couldn't have been more wrong about Florence and where she might go BGRIN

all my prayers go ou to every one cought up in it ! .... but at the same time im so relieved it missed Maryland and Baltimore out completely ,
Keys how are you fairing ?

The flooding and sheer destruction of this storm is mind boggling to say the least FACE

I notice this morning that Environment Canada has taken down the storm track for us which means that Florence will amount to next to nothing with only showers expected here on Wednesday.

Florence passed by during the night and is well out to sea by now.
She clipped the south-west part of the province with fairly heavy rains, but that was only for a few hours and was moving away very fast. No high winds; no tidal surge, and no water damage has been reported.
Where I am, a bit farther east, we had a bit of rain, but overall it was really a non-event. We get worse wind and rain storms than that all the time.

I'm still stunned at the devastation and flooding down south.
So many deaths; so many homes ruined and so many lives torn apart FACE

we here in Scotland and northern irland are being battered at the minute by very high winds and rain , the trees on the estate are going like dominos and its quite scary as there are some very big trees at the side of the house and if they go the house will be flattened .
Just got to sit it out !!!

My fingers are crossed for you, and I know what it's like to fear falling trees.

I had two beautiful but massive maple trees in my backyard that were very close to my house as well as the neighbours. City houses are quite close together.
If they came down there would be a lot of damage to the neighbours or me - or both.
I bit the bullet three years ago and had them taken down by a professional crew.
The possibility of hurricanes and tail ends of hurricanes had become too frequent to ignore any longer.

I hated to do it because I love trees, but it was a good thing for a second reason which I didn't know about.
The core of one tree was rotting and weakening with age and just the right wind storm would have done it in.

Yes thats the trouble with trees you cant see in side and thats were the danger lies ! ...... the tree's i have are huge 200 year old beach and they have a tendency to grow long limbs and then just break out , but the winds have eased off a bit now still about 55mph but a lot less than earlier today .

No im clearing up this at the minute !
