Excuse my ignorance but what is that thing that looks like a big hose coming out of the fuel tank??? (And if DaveM says "it's a big hose coming out of the fuel tank" I'm gonna platz...........) :y2:

I am curious about that, too. It looks like a filler hose of some type.

That is a "ram air" duct to the carb's air box. If you notice it lines up with the air intakes on the front of the fairing.

Then if you look at my later Ninja, the air duct is connected to a boxed section (just below the hand grips) that does the same thing.
 
Thanks AJ. I see the connection to the intake duct on the fairing, but is the fuel tank is a "dummy", or am I missing something else. ??

well on this model it is the fuel tank as well ! but it has hollow tubes welded in to it ,so the air rushing through allso keeps the fuel cool as well as a ram air system.
daft i now ! but back in the early 90's they thought fuel tempriture was very important for power!
