Greetings. My name is John. I live in the Chicago western suburbs. I began riding in Junior High on Honda 50s moving up to dirt bikes. I bought a Honda 125 as a Senior in high school and never looked back. My bikes have gotten progressively bigger over the years. My last bike was a Magna 750 about 8 years ago. I wanted to get back into riding after being away from it for too long. I re-entered last week by getting a 2010 Triumph Thunderbird 1600. I have never owned a Triumph before and am excited about exploring all there is about this new brand for me. I am looking forward to doing more touring as I'm getting older and have a little more time.

:five: Welcome, from Northern California. That T-Bird should give you plenty of smiles.
Thank you kindly. I appreciate that. I'm looking forward to this warm weekend to stretch it's legs for my first ride.
I was also wondering if there is a place in this forum where I might be able to ask about a part or two that I was looking for that my dealer says is obsolete?

There is a sub-forum just for T-Birds like yours: Thunderbird 2cyl 1600/1700

There is also a section for Trades, and one for The Workshop

Welcome to TT from Eastern Canada.
The 1600 T'birds have a good track record for reliability if it wasn't neglected by the previous owner(s).
Hope you found a good one.
They do have a habit of running rough once in a while. Get familiar with where the MAP sensor tubes are cause sometimes they vibrate off and cause rough running/won't idle. Minor issue, but can be annoying.
Lots of good info in the T'bird section like Greyfell stated.
Hop in and enjoy.

Thank you for that tip. I will become familiar where the MAP sensors are. Things I would have never known otherwise.
