MSTA Lunch Ride To Winter Haven

We had an MSTA lunch ride to the Harborside restaurant in Winter Haven. The restaurant located on Lake Shipp and has nice outdoor patio seating. But it was definitely not the day to eat outside. MSTA had never been here before. It was a 417 mile / 671 kilometers round trip ride for me. I met two of my three favorite riding buddies who live in Central Florida as well as one of Ilse's close MSTA friends who lives in Sarasota. Twelve of us made the chilly ride. Those of us who came from the east coast hit rain and rode thru the cold front. I hit the rain in Palmdale and donned my rain gear. The rain lasted about 30 or so miles. By the time I got to Lake Placid to refuel, the rain was over. But the cold northwest wind really picked up. BTW, I rode the farthest of all the attendees. We had delicious seafood and enjoyed great fellowship. The return trip was uneventful with no rain. When I got home at 17:40, the temp was 68 F / 20 C.

Rocky, I used to be able to do 600 mile / 966 kilometer days on a regular basis. Now 300 to 400 miles is all I can do.

Yes it was and I'm glad I did it. I'm getting in practice for the cross country ride I didn't get to make because of Covid19 and then my motorcycle crash.

Yes I did and it was good therapy; but she was still heavy on my mind at the end of my trip.

20c thats a balmy summer ride here ... glad you met up with some buddies and had a good time .

Thank you, Shane. Yes, it was tee shirt weather down here. But up there, on the cold side of the front, it got a bit chilly. I had checked out the weather and was prepared for it. I put on layers on the way up and took them off on the way back. All part of riding in Florida in the winter!!

Thanks for sharing. The map of your route had me recalling my trip to St. Petersburg to purchase my Thruxton R. Highway traffic in that area is nuts.

Yes it is. I try to avoid all of the metro areas.
