2024 Successes and 2025 Plans
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s 2024 RIDE Day initiative brought over 1,600 participants across 52 events in 20 states, offering an open door to the motorcycle training community. RIDE Day provided aspiring motorcyclists their first riding experience while giving experienced riders opportunities to test their skills.
RIDE Day features two options:
- MOTO Intro, in which participants are guided through basic motorcycle operation in a controlled setting, and
- SKILLS Check, which allows seasoned riders to assess and work on their techniques. Hosting ranges can offer either or both of these features at their RIDE Day events.
The numbers tell an exciting story. A post-event survey found that first-time riders made up more than 80 percent of attendees, signaling motorcycling’s appeal among many non-riders. Among participants, 82 percent have taken steps towards rider training, with 50 percent researching classes and 34 percent enrolled in MSF courses within 30 days of attending a RIDE Day. Of additional interest, 42 percent were women, showing a continued trend toward growth in that demographic.
“RIDE Day offers people curious about motorcycling the chance to try riding the right way,” said Corey Eastman, Director of Rider Education Expansion at MSF. “These events break down barriers to entry by having motorcycles and coaching available to participants at no cost, and providing a welcoming, low-stress environment for them to explore motorcycling and rider training.”
The MSF supports the efforts of recognized MSF ranges who host a RIDE Day event with a targeted social media ad campaign. These efforts yielded over 100K impressions and 2500 interactions per effort. Additionally, the MSF conducts research at events as well as following the event to track overall effectiveness. The following data is compiled from 2024 events, 30-days after a participant attended. The goal was to measure the overall impact on participants moving on to training and overall involvement with motorcycling.
