Hi guys, just wondering, I am looking at purchasing a motorcycle dash cam and wondering if anyone has installed on their America / Speedmaster. The command unit is designed to go under your seat etc for security, but when I took the seat off my 2015 America, their is no room for it. Wondering where else I could hide it, saddlebags maybe..

I use the GoPro on my Speedmaster but now wish I had just purchased a proper dashcam.

I am not sure if the setup under the new Speedmaster seat has changed but I would be able to install small electronics under my seat like a box for a dashcam.

Not sure if this would give you any ideas but if it can be done on a Triumph Street Triple I am sure you would have more room for this on a Speedmaster.

Thanks, I am not sure, I tried to put a similar sized package under the seat but could not put the seat back on, might just have to see when the cam arrives. I currently use gopro on chin mount but battery lasts only about an hour at best, so no good for a decent ride

My Midland Bike Guardian. Has two modes, dash cam and action cam. I just use former, stamps time and date, I think it embeds speed and location. can download the dash cam as action video, don't mind the time stamp. Could have dash cam mode without stamp, but that lessons the value of footage in an incident. Locks clips in event of a 'bang'.

Runs off USB supply. There's no additional electronics. Works well, copes with all the vibrations of my old bike.

Don’t forget, if you are stopped by the boys in blue and your camera is fixed to the bike they can interrogate it. Whereas if it’s on your person, like a chin mount, they can’t.

Interesting. Knew camera recording could be used by the plod against yourself. Didn't know only if fixed to bike.

I was mistaken in earlier post, my camera does not record speed, it has no GPS. So, I set it up to capture speedometer. Then realised that wasn't too clever. Stays on bike, as it is primarily as dashcam, fit and forget. Just capture headlamp shell now.

Interesting indeed. They can just plug in and invite themselves to all your data on the spot?

In the states they’d have to get a search warrant either way, bike or helmet mount. Then if they actually went that route and put forth the effort to present it to a judge, you’re probably already in some pretty deep do-do. Like, just killed someone or had a kilo of dope in your backpack deep do-do. They have to articulate probable cause and with some exceptions, judges won’t sign warrants over petty traffic BS. 4th Amendment issue.

I just went the Quad Lock/iPhone route with an arm extension and vibration dampener. Works like champ for now. Quad Lock is constantly coming out with new accessories too. I’ve had my eye on some these dedicated camera systems for a bit though. I’m trying to abstain from my gear and gadget habit for the time being. Some examples in here I’ll eventually give a look.

If you are looking for a camera system that can double as a dash cam. The 360° cameras would appear to be the way to go. Not cheap but amazing capabilities.

Hi Guys, I got the Vantrue F1 installed on my machine, went and got it professionally done, really neat and tidy, very unobtrusive. can barely see them, but the quality is fantastic, 4k front and 1080p rear.

This is really a nice installation what I would have liked on my Speedmaster but my GoPro will just have to do now that I have it setup.
I have a GoPro on a chin mount as well Dave, but whenever I travel over the border into New South Wales (I live in South East Queensland) it is illegal to have it attached to your helmet, so the DashCam still covers my trip

Hi Philois, I managed to fit it under my seat beside the airbox intake, just enough room
Next time I ride down to the Gold Coast I’ll let you know (I was there a few weeks ago) if you’re interested it would be great to meet up. I ride with my brother in law (he lives in Currumbin Waters) who also has an America.
