This is another example of my eclectic "art" collection :y2: :y15:
This is a print of a painting done by Canadian artist, Michael Martchenko. The print alone was quite expensive as it's signed by the artist and a Canadian Battle of Britain ace, Noel Stansfeld.
The painting depicts an actual incident on 30 August 1940.
British Squadron Leader, Douglas Bader, (the legless fighter pilot) led 242 Squadron which was mostly Canadians. They were just returning to base after driving off a raid over England.
Bader is in the farther Hurricane and waved two fingers to his wingman, Willie McKnight, indicating two kills.
McKnight waved back three fingers indicating three kills. Bader was elated. The squadron had downed 12 enemy with no losses.
The painting is titled "McKnight's Hat Trick.
The other picture is of Stansfeld who survived the war. Ace Noel Stansfeld.jpgIMG_2845.JPG
