I have two completely different methods of installing the barrel. Which one is the better method. Method 1 came with the SS barrel. Method 2 came from a Triumph manual.

Method 1: Screw in the barrel just to the point where there is no free play in the lever. Screw it in one complete turn (360 degrees) and then turn it to line up the grub screw and the milled flat area on the barrel align. Tighten the grub screw. Bleed the system.

Method 2: Screw the cylinder barrel into the switch housing while holding the brake lever in the closed position until it will screw in no further. Place finger over the main port and by blowing through the outlet end of the cylinder it will be observed that no air will escape from the breather port. Now unscrew the cylinder barrel is heard to escape from the breather port. At this point the port will have just become uncovered. Unscrew the barrel one complete turn and set the angle of the reservoir to 10 degrees. The milled flat on the threaded end of the barrel must be located when the grub screw is being re-tightened and will set the angle automatically. Re-assemble the master cylinder to the handlebar, replinish the reservoir with fluid and bleed the system.
