I had the honor and privilege of spending about 5 hours with Geoff and Deborah, his bride. They are in Ft Lauderdale about to take a honeymoon cruise in the Caribbean. They are great, down to earth, friendly folks. I felt as if I had known them for years. I tried to buy him a beer; but he wouldn't drink one because I was not drinking anything. I never drink and I ride. We had a great visit and I look forward to seeing them again.
I rode 458 miles round trip from Orlando to Ft Lauderdale and back. I left this morning at 06:35 and arrived at the Beach Hilton around 11:10 - in the pouring rain. I ran into a few sprinkles while on the freeway. I got off the freeway to take a surface street over to the beach and the bottom fell out. I had no place to duck into to put my rain gear on. To make matters worse, I had to wait for a slow train and then wait for a drawbridge in the downpour.
My gear was mostly dry by the time I got ready to ride home and the skies were clearing and the sun shining. I left the hotel about 15:15 heading west. I go on the freeway (I-95) heading north and could see clouds ahead. The rain was moving in from the Gulf Stream and moving north. I pulled over under and overpass and donned my rain gear. I had not gone three miles when I ran into pour rain. I rode in rain for about 135 miles of the 229 miles home.
I rain out from under the cloud cover to a gorgeous sunset and stopped in Cocoa to refuel and get out of my rain gear. By the time I arrived home, I was completely dry - having been wet all day. I arrived home around 19:10.
It was a lot of riding and well worth it. Geoff and Debra like the Tiger. I am sure he will be posting about his trip when they return home.
Congratulation and best wishes to the newly weds!
