Well the March TWT Pie Run was fast approaching and I just happen to be on vacation this weekend so that could only mean one thing… Time for some riding and some PIE with a few of my friends.

Several of the riders at work have been saying we need to get together for some rides and with the Pie Run just a few weeks ahead I sent out the ride invites. Heck with three and a half weeks to get it all planned we should have no problem getting up a group. Well it seems they are more talk than action, none of those that were off let me know they were going to meet with me for the ride. Three of the riders at work I normally ride with were working this weekend so I knew they couldn’t make it but the ones that were working on our last ride were off, so perfect chance for us to get together. The only ones I did hear from were those working, they wanted to ride but that wasn’t going to happen.

So the call went out to my normal posse and guess who showed up? Yep, the tried and true riders I have shared many a Texas mile with.

The quickest route would have been the interstate but who rides that? We headed out for some of the back roads and made it to the Pie Run location 11 minutes early. Well the group did, I was a few minutes behind them because I peeled off from the group I was leading to grab a photo of the Freestone County Courthouse which was three blocks to the west as we entered Fairfield, Texas.

The Conroe group pulls into Huntsville to pick up a couple Huntsville riders.

Shootergal from the Conroe group, she had just finished Chemo on Thursday and was wanting to ride. This was her first real ride in many months.

I will post more as I have it available.

Another COOL ride report thanks for sharing. Your lot sound a bit like what we had this side with our RAT group until it was just given up as a bad job. At times it is just better to ride with a smaller group that you know

good one Tony
Give shootergirl my best for her treatment, hope it all works out for the best.

I will tell her Thursday night at Bike Night.

Here's an additional video from the camp group. Sounds like they had a pretty good time, Ill have to grab some of their photos and post them too.

Yeah, best to stay with the tried and true group. I'll go ahead and invite them again but after a couple more no shows they are on their own again. I do know a couple of them only bought their bikes to run down to the local watering hole and probably have less miles on the bikes (they have had them for a few years) than one of our rides would be.

That sounds like V-Twin riders. BGRIN

Saturday report following the events of Friday night.

Raccoon-y! That's how the morning was. I can't speak for tonight's hoopla because I'm not there anymore to enjoy the show. ;-)

Bob survived Friday night intact. A (soon-to-be) paramedic was on scene just in case. He carries a tourniquet with him at all times so you know he's legit. TUP

Things we learned:

1) Raccoons can open a cooler that it takes us at least 5 tries to figure out every time we want to get anything out of it
2) Raccoons enjoy gnawing on butter but don't really eat it as an entreé
3) Raccoons have very slimy spit, especially when it's all over the outside of your remaining granola bars that they didn't actually tear open

Saturday night reports
Well its been rather quiet thus far. Just headed to my tent. Just a lot of tire kicking and lies. XC, I will admit you missed all the viagra talk and other topics that come with age. All and all though, great group, great food and lots of fun (even though I hear Fridays are still better).

someone took viagra at the camp site?? what? did they forget a tent pole or something??? :y19:

I am really considering a padlock for my tent if they are taking the little blue pill around the campfire... Btw I think Bob needs a new chair. Some how a rouge gust of wind put his in the fire.

Would you believe that Hardy set fire to my camp chair? To burn a man's camp-chair is just WRONG.

Thank goodness, Hardy let me borrow his "dressing chair"

Guilty as charged on the camp chair. But I did let you borrow my, what was it, my "inside" (the tent) chair. Hey, by the way, someone left a real nice insulated blue and stainless steel coffee cup that I brought home. Whoever, remind me on the next campout, if I'm invited, and I will bring the high class cup back to you.
Fine folks, several new friends, (I hope) and Bob. No, no, I mean thanks Bob for the shindig. Ya'll are all "keepers." Thanks for the company and having me. Be well. Hardy

Hardy does not like yellow. This is the last known picture of Ol' Yeller, But like a good trooper, he went down in flames.

RIP Ol' Yeller :y47:

011-M.jpg

Now lets tell the whole story. We saw you "blow out" the seat bottom and at least eight or ten of us saw you sitting on the ground with the chair frame wrapped around you. And that was after two of us had attempted repairs. The chair was toast. History. Fin-e-to. I did you a favor. I even carried it to the dumpster this morning so you wouldn't keep Pining for old yeller. Bob, I"ll give you a dollar towards a Kermit chair. (even after buying you breakfast this morning) What are friends for??? Hardy

Wow! And hizzo said it was quiet... No one set any furniture on fire when I was there. What a ripoff...

Hardy was just trying to cut your packing time down, Bob. Yeah. That's it...

All is not as they appear.

Thus the beginning of Yeller Gate.

No pictures it never happened

I did not take an accurate body count, but I think the count was 12 Friday night and 16 Saturday night. This was the largest attendance so far. We all had fun. Well 'cept for Ol' Yeller, but he received a proper cremation and his ashes spread over the campsite

I did not take very many pictures, but here they are.

Just a few of the gang

Raccoon visit. I would not have thought they could open an ice chest like this. But they did

Fairfield is a beautiful park, but it seem to have been littered with motorcycles.

The only thing wierder than an old fat guy riding around with a WW2 hack that had a dog in the sidecar, was this. I have never seen an Ice Cream truck in a state park before. They actually stopped so we could take their picture.

OK folks, share your pictures. C'mon sKatz - we need to see pics of our guest of honor. Skatzlet.

And the weather really was fair!

What our readers may not know, (and/or some may never believe)....
Hardy the Merciful was only putting it out of it's misery.

Well I suppose to shoot it would have been problematic, so death by fire was the next best thing.

anyone who arrives in a p/u, towing a trailer w/ a vintage looking motorcycle that sports a side hack should be able to haul a chair of larger proportions

sure enjoyed the new friends & the camaraderie, on friday

thanks to all

sure wish i had set up on the lake side of the road

someone was snoring something awful, on my side...

Hardy,Are you the person who handles Bob's campout chair fund? Do you accept Paypal?

I know who should be in charge of the kermit fund!
Warning - Exotic Photo :y24:
Do not open this link from your place of work.

An ice cream truck drove by the campsite and nobody got ice cream? What's wrong wtih you guys?

The raccoons got all our cash, too.

the meth van drove by later, no one stopped it...or took pictures

I think the family in the camp next to us had the meth van. Used budget box truck. Lol they almost set the forest on fire with their craziness.

Sunday morning before heading home...sKatZlet gets sKooLed

Bob backs Lyekka up and over Q... um, around Q. Yes, around. (Q is short for QuasiMoto, the name of the TW200 in the background)

I had planned to camp with them but my plans didn't pan out. Now I'm sorry I missed this one...well except for the talk of taking viagra around the campfire. Is that Dueling Banjos I hear?

I'll have to find the stories that led up to the purchase of the rig. Bob was snake bit when it came to riding the dirt roads and he was determined to ride them without also having to take a ride in ambulance. He just couldn't win for losing.

I don't understand this post.
Do you mean that he was scared to ride on the dirt?

"Snake bit" would be prone to accidents or nothing went right when he would attempt to ride the dirt roads. At work we will say call a crew that is having problems over an extended period of time or over several different work periods a snake bit crew.
