A frame made from the timbers of Independence Hall?

One man’s junk, another nation’s treasure.

I love these stories. Remember watching a US antiques show on tv. A guy had some stuff he wanted to have valued. The assessor noticed a fairly non-descript blanket lying over the back of a chair. After a good look he declared it to have a value of $300,00 to $500,000 US. The owner hadn't a clue it was a native Indian air-loom type thing.

Silli you're right - these are really 'feel good' stories! On a UK programme about 20 years ago, little old lady bought a string of dark greyish/blueish 'plastic' beads that were just the perfect colour at a street vendor in Brighton. Went to an antiques shop and the owner complimented her on the necklace which turned out to be Queen Vic's missing string of black pearls.
I have no idea whether this is true or not but it's a feel-good one anyway!

I think this story was deliberately done around the 4th of July because of it's significance.

I have to doubt the part about a frame being made from the timbers of Independence Hall though. First of all.... this copy was supposedly made in the 1840s. That's 70+ years after the Declaration of Independence was signed. By that time, even the building it was signed in was a National Landmark and NO ONE would be able to take any "timbers" from it. Not only that...it's a BRICK building!?
