Three months ago, Mabel purchased a used Texas Sidecar to attach to her Sportster; she wants to take her dog when she rides.
The hack was previously on a Bonneville T100. Before she purchased it, I called the Texas Sidecar Company about fitting it to her Sportster 883 Super Low. They told me they had the kit; but we would have to raise the bike 2 inches/5 centimeters. I knew we could do that so she ordered the kit.
The kit arrived and it would not fit the Sportster. Turns out it was for a Sportster 1200 and they do not have a kit for an 883. Texas Sidecars did take the kit back and refunded the money. Now what?
Mabel decided to take the bike and sidecar to a local chopper and custom shop; we knew he built trikes. He looked it over and made some calls. He found a kit from Motorvation, a high end sidecar company. They said the kit would work with some minor modification. In a week, the sidecar was attached.
Since I took the pics below, I installed a Memphis Shades windscreen as part of my Christmas present to Mabel.
The rig handles well. Mabel will take a sidecar safety course in two weeks.
