Lowering Rear Brake Pedal...part Deux

Hello, again, everyone: In an earlier thread, I went through the trials and tribulations of lowering the rear pedal on my T100. Well, it still wasn't low enough for me and the rear brake rod was sitting on the lever pin, although there was still thread left to use if I could remove some of the rod. Didn't like the idea of trying to take it out of the m/c on the bike, so, out came the trusty Dremel. It took a tungsten carbide router type bit and quite a bit of grinding but I was able to remove enough of the rod to adjust the pedal low enough for my liking. The rod on the T100 is in an area that is a real pain to get to, making it that much more "fun" to do. Also, as I said in an earlier post, I've got a set of metric 3/8 drive "crow's foot" wrenches that are configured like "flare nut" ones; without them, I don't think I could have ever loosened the locknut. I still can't remember where I bought them, but I believe it was from one of those "bargain tables" that you see in the auto parts stores. Anyway, if any of you have the urge to do your rear pedal, that's one way to do so.

Hi Jim,
I also modified my brake pedal as you had and cut the thread section shorter so I could lower the pedal as it is ridiculously high as it comes from the factory and you have to lift your foot up off the foot peg to apply the rear brake.

Please see a picture attached of my brake pedal.

Yep, much nicer to be able to work it in that position. Did you have to "relieve" the bottom side of the pedal to clear the bracket to allow it to work properly? Also, the pedal on mine actually angled out more than I liked (probably just the way that one was cast) and a friend of mine, who's a professional welder, was able to carefully heat it and move it in a bit. Much better now.

Hi Jim yes I cut and modified and gave it a gentle belt with a rubber mullet to bring it in closer to the motor as I agree with you it stuck out too much.

I also made a sleeve on the pivot as mine had a lot of play in it so it now is well supported and less slop.

I really enjoy modifying my bike and plan to increase performance on the motor after March and weather is less inviting to ride ha ha.

Thanks Jim I do like customising my bike and parts on it.

I found a great aluminium polish that works much better than Californian Purple only two applications on dull mill finish aluminium and it is polished to a gloss. I will do a post review on it.

Have a good weekend mate peeing with rain predicted all weekend here so not bike riding in Kallista.
