Surely the whole idea of the "New Bonneville" is that it's supposed to look like a '68 Bonnie?
Somehow they seem to be losing the plot.

If you guys are talking about that rendering, thats true. However, there are also a lot of people who like "modified" bonnies with alloys and more modern fenders and all that. Those people will go crazy for that if it indeed becomes a reality. heck, i'd even possibly be interested. Now if they can the current line and replace it with those i think they would be making a huge mistake cuz a lot of people want as close to meridan as possible. i really like that rendering and hope it does become a reality in addition to the line. i might one day consider one.

If they end the current line and switch to the 70's look; I will not buy another Bonneville. The 60's look is what attracted me back in the first place.

I'm with you, Carl, but we already have ours and I wonder how many of "us" are out there that are yet to buy. After all, its been goin on for 7 years now. Perceived market conditions may be calling for a change. Maybe the "old fart" market has dried up and they are looking to the younger rider. Easy to see from BIR that there are lots of younger guys into these bikes that were just a gleam in someone's eye when we were enjoying ours in the '60's. Personally, I'm keepin' mine, I'm keepin' 'em "close to stock" and I will never, never cease to enjoy them!!

I hear you loud clear, brother. I will keep ours and keep them close to stock, too. I understand that many of the younger riders, and I'm talking about 30-40-50 year olds, may be as turned on to a seventyish Bonnie as we were to the sixtyish Bonnie. And I hope they are. I would like to see the Bonnie name continue and its ridership grow. It is the only "standard" bike on the market.

I am painfully aware that I am not part of Triumph's target market. And that's OK; my time to be a marketing target has come and gone. I have what I want in bikes and I'm enjoying them. If I can keep this Bonnie running well for another few years, I may consider the parallel twin cruiser. I can hang a hack on that when I am no longer comfortable on or able to ride on two wheels. As long as the good Lord blesses me with health, I will be riding something. It's in my blood.

I didn’t decide yet what I like and what I dislike on this “project†:y35:. For the time being I prefer mine. :y31:
Scrambler2009-2.jpg

Is this one powered by a Meriden 750cc engine? Drum brakes in the front? :y22:
I don’t like the rear mudguard “cowl†but the rest looks GREAT! :y45:

These MCN guys say that it was built by “Metisse†but in fact it is a 1967 Rickman-Triumph “Metisse†500cc like the one below
rickman.jpg

Brothers Derek and Don Rickman believed that there were good frames and good engines but the two rarely were put together. The brothers built the lightweight 'Metisse' chassis to fit a number of various engines to create off-road machines.

Triumph engine and BSA gearbox (some bikes were originally equipped with the less prized Matchless engine)

Don't worry...i read a post at RAT where i got that link where someone mentioned it's not a replacement bike, but a special edition that will be ADDED to the line. Of course that pic is almost surely BS. There IS a special edition bonnie, but i saw the real pic and it's basically like the latest bonnie but with alloys. Otherwise it looks like the '08 bonnie, which as you probably know does have at least one change....a different tank.

I will know before any of you croud what is up Triumph's sleeve.
I can honestly say that Triumph has not slipped up once with the introduction of a new model and I feel that the 1700 will be no exception .I am not a Speed trp fan but I can see why some like her .Each to their own .Customers have been waitng for years for a middle weight cruiser and it will sell .

Next will be a Tiger cub
