I nearly cr@pped my pants just watching the video. I do not do heights well at all. :y19: :y19:

Wouldn't it be easier to put the guy up there with a helicopter?

And he should have a parachute too!!!

USed to have a fella working for me who had "retired" from just that line of work. Really enjoyed it for many years, but at age 42 he realized he just couldn't keep "risking it" like that.

Boy he had some stories though. Made good money climbing towers and toured all over the country. Just replaced bulbs and wiring etc.

Young mans game that.

I turned it off at about half way, I have Meniere's disease and it was setting me off. Had I watched a little more I'd have to go back to bed for a couple of hours until the room and my head were back in sync.

Ah, come on folks; this is not a crowded field at all - and you can really go up the ladder. :y114:
Like Gary said, I could have done this in my 20's - but not in my 60's. Two of my cousins did this kind of work until they were in their mid 40's. To answer Silli, Yes, it can be done by helicopter; but that has risk, too. It is expensive and not easy to get a man into position without bashing him against the structure. As Rocky so well put it, I am not afraid of heights; but I am afraid of falling. I have rappelled in some pretty high and scary places; but climbing that tower, no way!

Got to have faith in the guy who welded those steps..........

Yes you do - and that guy was on the ground when he did knowing he would never climb those steps.
