One thing I’ll give the UK is that they do a lot for their Vets. Significantly more than the US does for theirs. Things have VASTLY improved there since 9-11. We were on the right track until the current administration took over and slashed much of the previous gains.

As far as I’m concerned, screw the public at large. If they want to be ignorant jackasses, let them. Personally I typically get annoyed when some ‘tard says “thank you for your service” to me. It’s often just a condescending quasi-insult. As long as a country’s Vets are taken care of with tangible benefits and payments it’s all good. Vets have each other for bro-ups and support. We don’t need the populace. I’d rather they just leave me alone.

I served from 71 to 74 (US Army), nobody back then was thankful for my service, but that doesn't mean I'm not grateful for the experience. It taught me alot about life and people, and it paid for my college degree.
To all my fellow Vets (regardless of when or where you served), enjoy every day above ground, it beats the alternative.

I agree, our service is held in our hearts, we do not wear it on our sleeves for pride. I am in the local Veterans honor guard. our town had a parade this last Saturday. When I greet a fellow Vet I simply shake hands and say good morning and God bless. Not thank you for you service.

That was a great video MOT, thanks for posting it TUP TUP
I'm a member of the Warplane Heritage Museum and have visited the Lanc in Hamilton many times.
Once I was allowed inside to look around and that was a big thrill.

What a fantastic film!!
I will be forever in awe of those young men who flew over Germany night after night knowing how heavily the odds were against them.
They suffered terrible losses, as did the Americans, and I don't know how they coped with it and kept going day by day.
They must have been made of sturdier stuff than I am.
We owe them a debt that can never be paid.
