I have not owned one; but I have ridden one. I like it. Runs well, handles well, and feels solid. Grandpaul has one; hopefully, he will see this thread and comment. I wouldn't mind owning one; good road bike.
I love my 2000 Legend, although I might rather have a Thunderbird Sport for the dual front disc brakes and bench seat.
17K is relatively low mieage. SOME of the triples end up having issues with the stock coils at 20K or so; easily replaced with better Nology coils.
My BIGGEST problem with my Legend has been lending it to relatives. My brother and son-in-law compared notes and each trashed opposite sides of the bike almost to a mirror image. It's "mostly" fixed, but will forever have rashed "Off Road" mufflers, because replacing them is too expensive for my taste.
