This was posted in another forum by a dealer whom I know:

Well, my sales rep was in today, and I'm not pleased with all that I was told.

1) The new 1500cc Twin that was expected to be released this fall is stalled for a another year. Apparently, they have had some issues, and rather delay it's release then put a problematic bike on the market like the BMW 800GS LOL. Not a real big issue for the average BIR, but it could have bolstered sales for the dealers.

2) The new 675 version of the Tiger is due to release in Jan 09. Still no word weather it's truly a dual sport, or a "touring enduro"

3) The 50th anniversary Bonneville will not be what we have seen in the press. From what I'm told, they are making the 50th to look as close to a 59 Triumph, but he didn't know what model exactly it's based on. Red and blue paint job from the 59.........

4) There will be SE models of the Bonneville and Thruxton for 09, that are not 50th anniversary bikes. No word on what's so special about them yet.

:y28: I like this idea :y18:

Well I'm still in love with my Tiger so will not be looking at a new bike for a while plus it's nice to have a paid for bike. Don't feel like doing the finance thing again (interest rates set to rise again in August)

I know that our dealers have gone to the UK for a dealer meeting so hopefully we may have a good bit of feed back soon.

Me too, Dave. I am disappointed about the delayed release of the 1500 CC twin.

Herr Trigger, you're messing with one big boy :y41: he could give that sinking feeling again very quickly :y43:

Well, i was hot to see and probably buy the new cruiser. But over time i have cooled off a good bit towards it, and gas prices have also helped put it well onto the back burner. i was hoping to finally see it to determine if i should just buy a new FI speedmaster or america to replace my carb speedy or whether i MUST have the new one. But this is the last straw. I won't wait yet another year (been waiting 2 already) to decide. If i decide i want a FI 900 more than what i have, i'm going for it instead of waiting to see this new bike. My main reason for waiting was that if it turned out to be absolute killer, i'd be kicking myself if i bought something else only to finally see it and realize i have to have one. But this is the final blow. The new cruiser can eat me !

disappointed....i suppose, but a better word would be irritated. And as for a FI review, i dunno. I'm looking at houses right now, so i may end up keeping what i have. Time will tell. My biggest problem with it all is that i hate being in limbo. I just wish i knew what i was going to end up doing. theres a '06 speedy in the paper right now with 4k miles for $5k in mint condition. If i knew i was going to end up keeping mine i would buy it and sell mine for about 1k less and have a brand new speedy. But the FI and it's 7 more HP keep calling my name...

The thing is we always wanted that bit more HP and the 1700 was going to give us that. However with the FI you will be about where you wanted to be in the first place and you will have a bike you know and love. :y115:

Almost, but the 2 advantages a bigger bike would have is that i wouldn't have to modify it to where it was illegal to get the power i want. The FI has about what mine has after the mods, and i'd still have to mod it to get as much power that i think it would take to be happy. And 2, the new FI 900's look good, but they totally miss that look i love so much about the original speedy with the stripe down the middle of the tank and the shape. So, no, it won't be a perfect solution. If it looked the same i think i'd have my mind made up already. The ultimate in my book would be what i have right now but on a slightly bigger scale with a 1200 and about 80 HP. I do believe i'd take that one to the grave with me. (just hope the extra power doesn't take me to the grave with it :))

Sounds like a XR1200.
