It is definitely hard to comprehend. I have only felt slight tremors when I was in CA. I will deal with hurricanes, thank you. I know how to protect myself from those!

When I got married, we went on our Honeymoon to Acapulco, Mexico and stayed in a Hotel on the beach at about the 14th floor.

There was a bad earthquake, the epicenter being about 60 miles away. The whole building swayed and the bed was bouncing on the floor like the Exorcist movie.

I've always said from then on that I made the Earth move on our Honeymoon. :y2:

PS: Actually, it awkoe me around 4 AM but my Wife would have slept though it if I hadn't awoken her despite sounds of glass breaking and crashing.

Terrible.

I never fully understood the power of a tsunami until watching some of the videos. Watching people trying to escape the mass of water in their cars, other homes, cars and debris tumbling in the flood.

It's like scenes from a disaster movie.

End of the world is nigh.

...

Well I for one will not be complaining about the wet weather and cold we get over here again!
I can't imagine what those poor people are going through.
The TV images are unbelievable!
I hope they get the reactor under control!

Check-out this link with a video.

The link says:

This first-person view is the most terrifying and astonishing video I've seen of the Japan tsunami. Initially everything seems ok, just a mild wave coming towards the camera. But keep watching—the sea goes Godzilla on the city. By the end of it, the raging water is taking entire buildings off the streets of Kesennuma, in the Miyagi Prefecture, Japan.
