I apologize if this has already been covered, but I couldn't find anything with a search. I've got the Triumph aluminum skid plate on order and I'm considering a J&S motorcycle lift. Has anyone had any issues using this lift (or any lift) with the 800xc with the triumph aluminum skid plate?

One concern, the J&S lift surface is 17 inches wide and I don't know if the skid plate is at least 17 inches long.

I have the aluminum skid plate on my XC and I have a motorcycle lift. I have read conflicting reports on using the lift with the skid plate. Most say don't use the lift on the skid plate. A few claim they do so with no problem. I opted not to and I installed a center stand. The XC is a lot of weight to lift with the weight bearing on the skid plate.

I am sorry that I don't have a definitive answer.

If using a lift on the XC is not a good idea, my next decision would be which center stand to use. I know that discussion has been had countless times. But, now that Triumph has recently released the redesigned stand, is there a general consensus as to whether they've solved all the problems with it?

The new center stand seems to be fine. I use it daily when parking my bike in the garage. I have read nothing derogatory or negative about the new center stand.

If using a lift on the XC is not a good idea,

Just an observation Lanny, Carl said it was recommended not to use the lift with the skid plate, not, not to use a lift.
My boy has a H---- with a v4 and it doesnt have a flat bum to sit on a lift,so we shaped a piece of ply with a few recesses cut in it and this sits between the sump and the lift and makes things stable.
If you are worried about the ability of the skid plate to support the weight of the bike,I am sure you could fashion a timber packer to wedge between the plate and a structural part of the bike to make it work.As a side note,I believe any skid plate that is sold as such should be able to support the weight of the bike if it is designed to protect the bike.
At the end of the day,if you spend a coupla bucks and a small amount of time to make using a lift safe and secure, then surely this is the best option as working on a lift is so much easier than working on the ground.

This is what I mean re a platform to sit between your lift and your bike. Dscn0200.jpgDscn0195.jpgDscn0193.jpg

I just wanted to say a quick thank you for all the good information. This was my first post to any forum and I have to admit I'm very impressed and thankful.

Harry is spot on with the fabricated adapter, they are also used with lifts for Buell's and should work just as well with the XC.
