ISDT Tribute: Triumph T120 Bonneville Scrambler
The Triumph Bonneville T120 is probably the most well-rounded Bonnie of the lot, a 1200cc roadster that combines classic style and character with modern tech like liquid cooling, ABS, traction control, heated grips, and more. The engine makes a balanced 80 brake horsepower and 78 foot-pounds of torque, and the T120 does a great job at capturing the spirit of the old Bonnies in contemporary form.
One of the most prolific and accomplished workshops at modern Triumph customization is France’s FCR Original. One of the main strengths of the company is how much they do in-house, from prototyping to production of all the parts and accessories featured on their builds. Design, 3D scanning and printing, fabrication, upholstery, paint, finishing work…it’s all done at FCR.
Today we’re happy to feature one of their newest builds, a 2024 T120 Bonneville Scrambler inspired by the ISDT (International Six Days Trial), aka the “Olympics of Motorcycling.” Famously Steve McQueen and the rest of the US team raced the 1964 ISDT on Triumph TR6 and TR5 Trophy models — beefy British twins that were a far cry from the lightweight motocross-based enduros of today’s ISDE (International Six Days Enduro).
This T120 Scrambler was not meant to be a hardcore off-roader — that’s left to the dirt and adventure bikes of today — but it captures the look, spirit, and style of those 60s ISDT sleds. Below, FCR Original gives us the full rundown of the project.
Our latest project, a Triumph T120 2024, perfectly embodies our philosophy of bringing unique creations to life that reflect our clients’ desires while pushing the boundaries of customization. Designed for a client seeking a stylish and versatile motorcycle, ideal for winding roads and countryside trails, this scrambler combines bold design, modern performance, and artisanal craftsmanship.
For this project, we drew inspiration from the legendary ISDT (International Six Days Trial) competitions and the timeless spirit of Steve McQueen, a name synonymous with adventure and style. Guided by the creative vision of our designer Alexandre, we crafted a motorcycle that captures the essence of a classic scrambler while incorporating modern technology and design.
The challenge was to create a functional machine capable of meeting the demands of everyday use while maintaining a unique character and aesthetics.
What sets FCR Original apart in the market is our ability to oversee every stage of the creation process in-house. From concept to production, everything is done within our workshops. Using state-of-the-art tools such as 3D scanning and 3D printing, we design exclusive accessories. Each part is then crafted, tested, and perfected by our specialized teams in various fields:

This complete capability allows us to create motorcycles and accessories that not only meet but exceed our clients’ expectations.
For this Triumph T120, everything starts with a vegetable-based frame stripping process, an eco-friendly method ensuring optimal surface preparation. The frame was then nickel-plated, a signature finish of our Legend series, giving it a refined and durable look.
The tank, the centerpiece of this creation, was chromed before receiving a custom gunmetal grey paint finish chosen by the client. Adorned with Triumph and FCR Original logos in gold leaf, it is further enhanced by a gold pinstripe and a Monza fuel cap, adding a final touch of elegance and timelessness.
Every aspect of this motorcycle has been designed to balance aesthetics and functionality:
• Brushed finishes: Fork legs, fenders, and engine covers were subtly brushed for a raw yet sophisticated look.
• Exclusive accessories: A headlight visor and side plates reinforce the classic scrambler spirit, while the custom tobacco marine leather seat sits on a shortened frame, offering a harmonious and sporty silhouette.
• Custom exhaust: A high-mounted stainless steel exhaust line, handcrafted in our workshops, is equipped with specific silencers for a deep, powerful sound characteristic of the 1200cc engine.
Comfort and handling have been optimized with high-quality Shock Factory suspensions, offering the perfect balance between flexibility and responsiveness.
The chrome scrambler-style handlebars ensure a natural and relaxed riding position, while the streamlined cockpit features simplified controls and a Motogadget Classic gauge, guaranteeing perfect readability and minimalist style.
This Triumph is equipped with many exclusive accessories from our catalog, all developed and manufactured in-house:
• Radiator grille, chain guard, and custom FCR Original engine badges,
• Off-road footpegs, specifically designed for this Triumph T120,
• 3-in-1 rear turn signals, allowing the removal of the rear light while maintaining an elegant and streamlined appearance.
The black Triumph wheels, paired with Continental TKC 80 tires, add a rugged, off-road touch, reinforcing the adventurous spirit of this machine.
