Is the Yamaha Ténéré 700 Really So Special?

Many many miles of dirt roads here in very scenic terrain, but my 64 year old body can't take off-roading. :-(

That's a shame but at least you're riding. :-)

I certainly would have considered a T7 if the release hadn't been delayed for so long, but I'm still very pleased with my Scrambler. It's not a lot heavier than the Yamaha and the build quality is excellent. Plus I have a CRF 250, which I'm sure is easier to handle off road than a heavier T7.

I'm 65 and my wife keeps telling me I should start acting my age. Meanwhile .....

Apologies for that photo not being my Scrambler but Sexy XE still has the OEM road rubber and the worst it's done so far is gravel roads.

My wife is 64 and pretty fit overall but not a mobile as she used to be, so now she prefers to ride on the back of my Vulcan which has a very comfortable 'Ultimate' seat.

(Thoroughly recommended btw Ultimate Motorcycle Seats).

Unfortunately she broke her leg on Friday and is currently in a cast, so I suspect my riding will be somewhat curtailed this year. Certainly she won't be on the back of the Vulcan for a long time.

Getting old sucks.

Getting old is not for the fain hearted - but it beats the alternative! I am still riding off road at 75 years; but I can see that is drawing to a close.

I had a CRF450, sold it in 2005 and ended the dirt riding I have done since I was 14. Sold my HD 4 months ago and am on three wheels now in a Vanderhall. It will carry my walker when that time comes.
I am blessed to be able to keep on riding on two wheels.

I am thinking of going the other way round...from T700 to a 21-18 street scrambler...but not sure if the 21-18 wheels mod is doable on a 2019 Street Scrambler without messing with the subframe front and rear suspension...
