There was an outfit called Katama Cycle that tried to resurrect Indian in the late 90's. Is that the same one or is this a new venture? I knew one of Katama's backers very well. He was delivered one of the first off the line; a twenty-six thousand dollar piece of real garbage.
No Katama folded - for the same reasons you cited - high price and poor quality. The Brits bought the name and the the rights. The Katama bikes looked good; they were just buggy.
CMC California Motorcycle Company was the last building the Indian name. The designed or had designed for them the new "Nickel 105" engine now being used in the Chief. CMC started with S&S power plants. Overall the bikes were fair, I happened to get a lemon. I would not touch Indian with a 10 foot poll.
