On Saturday the 28th of May our church a fete which included a "vetkoek" run for motorcyclists/pillions(plus minus 480 people) It appears that Dinkie asked a young motorcyclist, Niel, to take her for a ride.
The story goes around that he raced awaywith her as pillion and did not stop at any 4 way stop intersection. At the 3rd 4way stop intersection with a storm water furrow, Charmain, in her car stopped and pulled away. The motorcycle crashed into the driver's side of the car.The car turned over with Charmain trapped in the car. The Niel and Dinkie were thrown over the car and sustained serious
injuries. The motorcycle lying next the car caught fire and burnt out. Charmain was freed out of the car.The three of them were rushed to hospital. Charmain was diagnosed with a fractured pelvice and a
lot of bruises. Dinkie was diagnosed with fructured pelvice, jaw and rib that damaged a lung. She went into a coma. Niel sustained serious face injuries.(Helmet broken). On Saturday morning 4 June, Charmain's husband, Markus had a call from the hospital notifying him that she is on life support. When he arrived
she passed away. Got news today that Dinkie also passed away. Niel is waiting to have a face reconstruction.
(PS. Charmain and Markus were great friends of Marius)

Wow....a car turned-over from being hit with a motorcycle? That bike must have really been flying. Why would someone risk crashing through 4-way stop signs?

Regardless, this is sad news to read.

That is a terribly sad story and such a needless tradgedy. My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Charmain Slomianka and Dinkie Bothma. Our thoughts and prayers are with them. Our prayers are also with Niel for a full recovery. That is an awful thing for a young man to have to live with the rest of his life.

Well said and I agree 100%. Prayers for all involved, such a tragic loss.
