I rode my T140 to Bike Nite last evening hoping to see some friends that I haven't seen since last Fall.

Many of the folks I know there ride over to PA from Ohio and I only see them at Bike Nites when the weather cooperates.

There are two guys I really appreciate seeing as we always have a good time together. So I get there and while I'm stowing my gear away I hear someone yell AJ.

It's one of the two guys...and I mention that I thought I saw his bike when I pulled in, but didn't see his riding pal's bike beside it.

The next thing I know, he says he's gone. It didn't register at first what he meant exactly by that (thinking maybe he moved away or something). So I ask what do you mean "gone"?

He replies..."I mean GONE as in HE DIED". I'm like....OMG what happened?

Well, he was a gun lover and just around Christmas he was hanging-up a holster and the pistol fell out. When it hit the floor, it discharged the round he always kept in the chamber. It struck him in the upper thigh, hitting his femoral artery, splitting it in two. He bled out within minutes - before the EMTs could arrive.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. If anything, I figured he'd have died in a bike accident since he'd survived 3 horrendous accidents in the past. He was the same guy that had his nearly brand new BMWs driveshaft lock-up and sent him into the Cleveland Clinic for many Months to recover.

Anyhow.....the biking community lost a really great guy and a really true oldskool kind of biker. CRY

My other friend, his riding buddy, certainly was glad to see me....

He said he's been kind of lost not having his closest riding friend to go everywhere with. They were like brothers and rode everywhere together.
