Ilse Jacqueline Zeigler

Born June 27, 1947 in Lyons, France

Passed November 19, 2023, in Pompano Beach, Florida

With heartbroken sorrow, I announce the passing of Iise Zeigler. She lost her hard, two year battle with breast cancer and she fought to the very end in Hospice care. I was by her side when she took her last breath.

Ilse, some of you know her as Jacky, was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and member of Florida MSTA. She loved to ride and travel by motorcycle. She has ridden in 49 states and in Canada. In 2009, ilse rode solo and unaccompanied from her home in Dania Beach to Prudhoe Bay in Alaska and back. She and I rode up Pikes Peak in 2022.

She loved adventure and challenges. When she wasn't riding she was often backpacking and camping on hiking trails in Florida and north Georgia. She was s certified scuba diver and she has made over 3000 jumps as a skydiver. She has jumped all over the world.

Ilse circumnavigated the globe traveling by plane, train, and bus. She visited India, Tibet, Nepal, Mongolia and much of Southeast Asia. She has also climbed the Matterhorn and Kilimanjaro.

Though Ilse was born in France, she grew to her teens in Algeria not far from the Kasserine Pass in Tunisia. When Algeria gained its independence from France, Ilse and her mother moved to Paris. Ilse was 14.

In March of 1971, Ilse immigrated to the United States and lived in New York City. It was while living in Manhattan that she bought her first motorcycle and began riding. She was in the restaurant business. In 2001, Ilse relocated to the Fort Lauderdale area.

Ilse was a sharp business woman with a quick wit and a great sense of humor. She could coverse on a variety of subjects. She read almost continually to broaden her mind and improve her mastery of American English. She researched thoroughly before making big decisions.

I am blessed to have known her and all too briefly shared a life with her. She was a unique and beautiful woman. I certainly miss her.

Rest in peace, my love.

So sorry for your loss, what a great lady. Sounds like a long, exciting and wonderful life

oh man, what a fantastic woman. Guess we don't mourn for them, but ourselves who're left behind. My deepest sympathy mate, Ride On in her memory - very best from New Zealand - Dr Pat
