The latest advisory does not look good for the Plywood State. It looks as though we will receive a major hit next week. Tuesday and Wednesday are not looking good. Get the generators ready!

Hope you have remembered all your survival training Carl , like rubbing 2 boy scouts together to make a fire and let someone else eat the wild mushrooms first and if they die don,t eat any.

Geoff.

Yeh...what's with this crap. You would think this was hurricane season or something. I think I will just pack up my barbie dolls and run away....lol.

I am already sick of these storms, and we still have over two months to go.

Yuk!

Indeed they can! Fuzzy is right in the heart where tose mushrooms grow well.

Interesting you should mention that. When we bought the pasture in 1969, I wondered why, in the summertime, some of the Mexicans that lived in the area would be picking something out there. Found out is was the psylocibin mushrooms. They seemed to grow best from cow manure.

In the seventies, when the mushroom craze hit the drug culture, my pasture was a popular place. We sold the pasture in May of 2006 and to that day, there were still a few "throwbacks from the seventies" that I used to allow in for an occasional "harvest." People do some freaky things on that stuff. "Take a trip and never leave the farm."

I figured anything that grows out of cow sh!t just can't be good for ya.

Ike is going to be a problem. I bought my plywood today. I'll cut boards on Saturday and put 'em up on Monday.

I am not looking forward to next week. Maybe I'll go pick some mushrooms to make the week go by faster.

See, I told y'all Fuzzy lived in the heart of the mushroom country. Heck, he was farming 'em! :y114:

It looks like Ike could be as rough one. How close do you live to the lake?

Are you guys having a Huricane party again?

Be safe! FLA boys... Those Mushrooms taste like, well ummm.. You know...

Even though we're way up here in the northeast, we're very concerned about what Ike may do and the path he will take.
Hurricane Juan flattened us a few years ago and we're hoping Ike will not follow the same path.

Rocky, it looks like you are going to get Hannah as a tropical storm. I don't think Ike will visit you. If the current track holds, we, Steve and I, will get a category 1 or category 2 hurricane where we live. Fuzzy will get hit darn hard with a category 3 or 4 storm and Shyguy will get a hard hit also. You guys take care. It is going to be a bad day in Florida. It will be Sunday before we really know where he is going.

Here is scale with which hurricanes in the Atlantic are categorized.

Track of Ike

In the days before this forum I didn't know anyone in Florida so had no reason to be concerned, but I always felt heartbroken for the folks down there who take that pounding every year as well as those who are hit by tornados and floods. We don't get any of that up here - until Hurricane Juan a couple of years ago.
Now that I'm acquainted with the few of you down there and know who you are and a bit about your lives, I feel anxious for you.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you and thinking the good thoughts.
Our concern was that Ike might veer north towards us. We'll just have to wait and see.

We used to mix the spores with Kool Aid. Not that I would know about anything like that!
Stay safe guys! Hanna is heading for me as I type this, the outer rain bands are minutes away. Tomorrow should be interesting.

Ok my Florida Triumph riding mates,

It's now starting to look like its heading more south and west and more into the gulf....now if she or he or heshe, decides to turn back into us then this is not good as it will be a CAT. 4 they say. But fingers crossed and it will head even more west and miss us. Be nice if it misses the U.S all together but either way it looks like right now that it will hit a U.S coast.

I spoke to me mum today in London and she told me that there is 60mph winds on the S.W coast and the sea is stirring up in a big way. So it looks like they are getting some effect from these storms that way too. Probably more from our friend gustav.

Ride safe and be ready guys.

The projected track of Hanna shows her making it to the north of Ireland and the British Isles.

Let's hope Ike does not recurve to the east as was predicted last night.
